Carrickfergus U15s 10 Try Blitz At Coleraine
Coleraine U15 XV-
The U15s travelled to Coleraine on the third leg of their provincial tour and came away solid victors in a runaway romp against their opponents.
Notwithstanding that they were the home club Coleraine were unable to field a full compliment so it fell to the Carrick coaches to enter the spirit of rugby as always and loan a number of players to their hosts in order to give all the players a game.
Even bolstered by Carrick players who incidentally turned out to be Coleraines better performers the home club were unable to cope with the pace and power of the Woodlawn visitors.
Early set piece pressure exerted by the Carrick front row of Andrew Wilson Jonny Mooney & Bradley Walsh allowed an armchair ride for Jordan Besant at Number 8 and from rehearsed moves he crossed for two early tries one of which was converted by Marcus Jones.
Some mazy running by Jones then set up position for the forwards to drive, Andrew Wilson picked up and broke blind running strongly to score from 20 metres.
Another steady midfield scrum allowed Besant to pick & drive once again and although going against the grain somewhat he fortuitously brushed off the defender to score.
Jones added the extra points and from the Coleraine kickoff was the recipient of a well timed pass bursting through the home defence on an angled run which allowed him to score Carricks 5th try of the half.
Scrumhalf Lewis Stockman was the final try scorer of the half when good forward play gave him the chance to employ good footwork to jink in for the last of the first half action.
Half time Coleraine U15 XV-
Another reshuffle at half time saw Carrick bolster the Coleraine team in the shape of Arron McAuley & Corey Reid, these two certainly helped the home team who rallied to score a converted try near to the posts.
This fight back was short-
A typical bullocking run by last weeks Man Of The Match Iain McMenamin saw him dragged down short of the line but a good stretch saw him place the ball for his third try in three weeks.
Acting captain John Magill was in unfamiliar territory out on the wing but after what was the best period of play by Carrick he received the ball 35 metres out and decided to go for the corner, having rounded the last defender Magill powered away leaving the cover defence in his wake.
Hard running prop Andrew Wilson completed the rout when he picked up once again and drove for the posts, although tackled he showed great leg drive forging on to dot down for the final points of the day.
Nominations for man of the match were J Besant A Wilson & M Jones with Marcus Jones clinching the award on the back of an outstanding display of offensive running allied to dogged defence.

Coaches and players were content rather than excited by this result which in essence was no real test for the Carrick side; sterner games wait next week at Banbridge & in the final tour game at City Of Derry.
These fixtures will be followed by a well earned block of home matches.
Training for U15s is on Wednesday at Woodlawn starting 7pm sharp, special coaching clinics for half backs and place kickers start at 6.15pm,if you have been asked to attend these please be on time.
A special word of thanks to Dickie & Kiddo who left the relative safety of the coaches’
dugout in order to assist Coleraine with refereeing duties, it must be remembered
:-
After two disappointing results the previous two weeks Carrick under 17 came bouncing back with a well deserved win against Coleraine.
The near back to full strength side Captained by Andy Magill travelled to Coleraine with a reinvigorated attitude after a stern training session on wed night. The side now only missing two key players took to the park fired up and ready for action. Minutes after the kick off a set move saw Aaran Ellis score the first of his two tries ,this was followed directly from the restart with a try from Cameron Ward after a superb box kick from Adam Lusty at scrum half. The tries continued to flow with a second from Aaran Ellis again from a set move. Michael Wright then scored a well deserved try showing great pace to support Steven McAllister on the break. The final try of the first half went to the Capt Andrew Magill from open play showing great pace to penetrate the Coleraine midfield defence.
The second half again saw Carrick dominate the action however the penalty count against the Carrick side led to long periods of disjointed play. Carrick then conceded a soft try again on the back of a succession of penalties.
The last few minutes saw Carrick again score this time Dale Wilson knocking a few Coleraine players out of his way to crash over the line.
An altogether improved performance saw Carrick win the game 36-
